Circus freaks

Two comments in the past two days involving my kids joining the circus.

Clair showing her friends some neat tricks on her swing and one of them comments that she should join the circus.

Liam's teacher commented on his incredible balance and said that he could join the circus. What was he balancing on? The top of the playground equipment that he shouldn't have been on anyway.

I wonder what circus acts talents the other kids have?

Teens and toddlers

Which is more difficult to deal with, teens or toddlers???

I come home from work and call to make a haircut appointment for my teenager and I cross my fingers and hope they have something available for this week because school pictures are on Friday and I know the hair is like #1 priority in her world right now (this of course is subject to change based upon current mood of said teenager). I'm thrilled that her hair girl can get to her this week so I excitedly call her downstairs to tell her the good news and she seems bummed out about it. What is this about??? We talk, she almost cries, we talk some more. She doesn't know how she wants to get her hair cut. I suggest that all I was really intending was a trim before pictures. Argh! I thought I was doing something good but I guess not.

Then, I'm sitting in the living room and realize I haven't seen the mischievious 2 -year-old lately and go into the kitchen to find him inside the sink. Inside the sink. Yes, inside the sink. What is this about??? Argh!

Now I sit here in silence. DH has taken the three middle kids to the store with him, baby is sleeping, and teenager is upstairs (sulking? crying? watching a movie? homework?<--- yeah right).

BTW, I'm not a pirate despite the overuse of Argh. (Fyi: There IS someone on 43 things that wants to be a pirate though.)

The floodwaters have receded

Thankfully the rain stopped as per my (and many others, I am sure) request. I did finally go through some of the stuff that I brought up from the basement...threw some away and donating some to Goodwill. I'm going to try to go through the rest of it before I bring it back down to the basement but it sure is tempting to just bring it down and forget about it again. (Reminder to self: Read yesterday's post and remember what procrastination does to you.)

Rain, rain, go away

It's been raining all day and my basement is not doing well. It's not horrible but it does have a couple of inches of water in some areas. Thankfully we don't have too much important stuff down there. We have moved alot of stuff upstairs to the main level that we didn't want to get wet so now it looks awful in my kitchen, living room, bedroom, etc... I had been meaning to go through some stuff I had stored down there and really wish I had done it already. (Note to self: Procrastination is a very bad thing. It always comes back around to bite you in the rear.)

On a better note, the first week back to work went well. I didn't forget my locker combination, password for the various computer applications, or anything major about procedures. At least I hope I didn't forget anything major. I was able to catch up with how all of my friends at work are doing. I saw Jiffer although I didn't really get to talk to her much (Thanks again for my first comment Jiffer).

1 more day

I have to go back to work in just 1 more day. It's my last day to sit around and play with the kids and surf the net and all that other good stuff. Oh where oh where did my maternity leave go? I've been off of work for 7 weeks and haven't made any great housecleaning accomplishments. Overall it's probably stayed a little bit tidier but there's that stupid moving box in my room that has paper crap that I need to go through in it and it still sits there waiting. I guess it could be worse, it could have a nagging voice to go with it. Well, I don't know, maybe it is worse because it just sits there silently, patiently waiting for me to do something with it and I just walk past it a bizillion times a day.

I do miss my friends at work though. If only I could go to work in my jammies. My boss is pretty laid back...hmm...

In the bloggining....

there was a girl that loved blogs but didn't have one of her own. Her friend asked her why she didn't have her own and her honest explanation was that she didn't have a clever name for her blog. After much thought, so much thought in fact that she almost forgot to pick her son up at school, she decided that Chronic Chaos would have to be the name. Having a large family, working outside the home, and pursuing hobbies led the girl to have a life that seemed somewhat chaotic.

Oh, and she lived happily ever after (and blogged as often as she could which might not be all that much). The end.
